Increasing Diversity: Public Speaking Workshop

DESCRIPTION

In this year’s Increasing Diversity edition, we will focus on a core topic which often presents as a hurdle leading to less diversity in start-up founders: Public speaking.

Whether in pitches, scientific presentations or interdisciplinary exchanges – persuasive speaking is a key skill. But what factors influence how we are perceived? What unconscious patterns shape our communication? And how can rhetorical strategies be specifically adapted different situations and people?

In this interactive workshop, we combine scientific findings on rhetoric with practical exercises. Together, we will reflect on different communication styles, analyze the effect of language in various contexts and develop strategies to be convincing with an authentic appearance with any background, gender, native language or presentation format.

The secret to a strong startup ecosystem is diversity. Diversity of backgrounds, ideas, and approaches driven by successful entrepreneurs, who inspire and give back to the community.

As a Module 1 event, the «Increasing Diversity» format highlights the importance of diverse perspectives in entrepreneurship. Through targeted events and inspiring success stories, this module aims to attract and empower underrepresented groups in the start-up ecosystem, encouraging the formation of heterogeneous teams that drive innovation and success.

In this module, we will focus on a core topic designed to help increase the diversity in the (bernese) start-up ecosystem:
